Originally from Tasmania, Tim moved to Melbourne in 1979
He has been a familiar voice on radio and television coverage of the Australian game since then.  At the last count he'd broadcast 31 VFL/AFL Grand Finals
 

During three decades with the ABC, Tim broadcast international cricket for 15 years and covered five Olympics Games
Currently he is chief Saturday and Sunday afternoon football commentator on 3AW. 

As a writer, Tim is a regular contributor to The Sunday Age and recently, with co- author Elliot Cartledge, wrote his first book. Titled 'Chasing Shadows', the book is an account of the life and death of cricket writer and broadcaster, Peter Roebuck'.
