The last meeting for the Rotary year saw incoming president Katrina Flinn sit in for President Meredith Hayes. Taking advantage of the informality which results on those times when we do not have a rostered address fellowship abounded over a good meal. Katrina recounted some recent outcomes of the club. It contributed $2000 to Australia Rotary Health, $5000 to Foundation (making a total of $20,000 for the year courtesy on an increase in our Paul Harris Society members to 8). The next Board meeting will promulgate a Standard Project Evaluation Process for the club as a way of improving project selection. Ngaire Cannon outlined plans for "Community" next year and forthcoming special days and projects. Mental Health issues and Trachoma elimination were cited, as was the proposal to implement a "Taste of Harmony" day in Boorondara (more to come). David Rush told of a project to build/finance in part sanitation units in a remote village in the Philippines. Lawrence Reddaway highlighted our involvement with the "Salvo Hawks" footy team asking members when possible to simply support them by attending the Wednesday matches at the Victoria St oval in Auburn. Without exception all these prospects drew concerted interest from members and a highly positive mood for next year. |
