President's Pen

A good AGM session, thank you to all who attended.

Thanks also to MC Bill Troedel.  His ploy to fine the unsuspecting sweet-tooths among us was a clever first.

Kew Rotary's President Bob Slater's address on ethical leadership completed a very good meeting.

Please help fill up Noel Halford's Christmas Lunch roster for the 17th and 18th of December.

See you next week

Bob Slater....Ethical Leadership

Bob Slater is president at Kew Rotary.  His told of his observations on aspects of ethics, and the interplay with leadership.    Ethical Leadership he termed it.      That's Bob above rejecting the podium to talk from the floor.

Bob has a background in the military, and engineering and the management of charitable foundations. He recalled his interest in the topic arose when interacting with some year 12 students.  The issue was to guide them with options to combat unethical behavior and pressure from others to do something less than the "right thing".

Thus he took us through a series of historical commentaries and definitions on this highly philosophical area and left us realizing that there is no unique correct approach.

Car Parking at the Paris to Provence Event

Thanks all those who turned up at Como Friday, Saturday and Sunday  to park the cars.    As always, great comradrie among members on the job,  and many an odd story of the behaviour of those driving in to park.    Most important the club raised over $4000.

The Shadow
The Shadow applauds an interactive audience.   Phil Stewart's perennial question to the Past President, the past Treasurer and then the guest speaker "How long did it take you?" showed enterprise, but was beautifully preempted by guest Bob Slater's opening remarks to answer such a question at the end of his address.

It has been observed by The Shadow that Front Desk duty is signaled to start reconciliation matters each week on Kevin Rose's last minute arrival.   Our duo last time Shore and Owen were stressed by Kevin's early appearance and two subsequent comers.
 Christmas Lunch for Boroondara Community
The Christmas Lunch function for some special people in the Boroondara Communty is set for Sunday 18 December.

We will need many hands in preparing food on the Saturday before (the 17th), and others on the day helping out in the kitchen, serving and transporting people.

A roster will be sent  via email to all.   Please indicate on that ASAP on what times and aspects you can help and return a copy to me.  I will collate the responses to make a broad roster/schedule.
